The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has appealed to the Muslim faithful to remain upright even after Ramadhan the holy month might have been over.
Speaking at the 2025 Holy Ramadhan Lecture organised by the CIIN in Lagos recently, the President of the institute, Mrs Yetunde Ilori enjoined the Muslims not to go back to sinful ways after the Ramadan.
The topic of the lecture was: “Inheritance in Islam: A Model for Fairness, Equity and Justice in Wealth Distribution.”
Mrs. Ilori said ”We thanked the Almighty Alla who has given us today, not just today but another opportunity to see another holy month and we are alive and we are here to witness it again.
“For me, today is very important, the month is also special, very important. Once we are here, we fulfil our duties, not just denying ourselves of food.
“As an institute, it just an opportunity to ensure we do with others the things that the Almighty Allah wants, to put aside things that are not making him happy.
“And my appeal to us as we go on this session today, all that you have set aside to observe at holy month, by the time Ramadhan is over, do not go back to them so that all these our service will be accepted here and then be rewarded after”.
Similarly, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr Kunle Ahmed, who is also the Chairman of Nigeria Insurers Association (NIA), stated that the topic of the lecture was apt, as it is a testament that Islam is not just a religion, but also a way of life.
The guest speaker, Ameer Shereef Afolalola Mayaleeke, Director, Ad-Dawa Islamic Education Centre Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, also corroborated the earlier speakers, affirming that the topic of the Ramadhan Lecture is a vital aspect of Islam.
He said while the other topics could be forgotten, today’s topic will always be remembered because it is the main thing that upholds righteousness in Islam.
