The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has given retirees and prospective retirees of Federal Government Treasury-Funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) a period of 72 days, beginning from June 20, 2022, to enrol online.
Specifically, the commission informed that the 2022 online verification and enrolment exercise for the affected retirees and prospective retirees will commence on June 20 and end on August 31.
According to the pension regulator, those eligible for the enrolment exercise are: Employees of Federal Government Treasury-Funded MDAs scheduled to retire in 2022 and employees of Federal Government Treasury-funded MDAs who missed the enrolment exercises in previous years.
Prior to enrolment, all the concerned retirees and prospective retirees are required to visit their Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) and undergo the data recapture exercise. This entails retirees and prospective retirees providing their personal details including their National Identity Number (NIN).
However, PenCom pointed out that Retirees and Prospective retirees who had undergone the data recapture exercise earlier are not required to repeat it.
PenCom explained that the affected people have two options for the enrolment which is either Self-Assisted or Pension Desk Officer/PFA-Assisted.
Self-Assisted means that the retirees and prospective retirees are required to visit PenCom’s website (www.pencom.com.ng) to upload their employment details, as well as scanned copies of required documents before proceeding to their respective PFAs for physical verification and enrolment.
The step by step procedure for the Online Enrolment is hosted on the PenCom website.
The second option which is Pension Desk Officer/PFA-Assisted means retirees and prospective retirees who are unable to complete the online registration for any reason could approach the Pension Desk Officer of their respective MDAs or visit their PFAs for assistance.
